Adjacent between Dak Lak province and Khanh Hoa province is a towering mountain range lying on the M’Drak plateau, creating beautiful scenery with Chu H’Mu peak and Vong Phu islet.
Vong Phu islet has a height of 2,051m and stands out with two blocks of granite lying next to each other, called Mother islet and Child islet. People named it Vong Phu because they looked like a mother with a baby in her hands waiting for her husband. The journey to conquer Vong Phu island through streams, forests and along mountain waves will bring visitors many adventurous experiences.
Crossing the river
The most convenient way to conquer Vong Phu islet is to go from Dak Lak to the forest starting from village 9 of Ea M’Doal commune, M’Drak district, Dak Lak province.
The first challenge visitors encounter when coming out of village 9 is to cross the Hinh river. Ideally, travelers should prepare life jackets and ropes to avoid risks.
After crossing the Hinh river, visitors reach the edge of the forest which is about 200m above sea level. This section of the road is quite easy, the slope is not high, visitors just need to follow the trails of the foresters. However, visitors will meet different turns and the road is quite long, For those who usually go trekking, it takes more than 8 hours to reach the mountain base. Because of the long road, visitors have to reserve their strength for the long run to get to the campsite near the mountain base in time.
The large mountain base is about 800m high, there is a campsite along the stream, the site is clear. Because the terrain is flat for tents, visitors can use field hammocks. The most favorite thing here is the fresh stream, where you can get water to boil for drinking.
Crossing the slope
After the journey from the village to the mountain base, the Next challenge for tourists is the completely new aspect: crossing the slope. There is only one way to go from the mountain base to the top of the two big rocks, that is, visitors have to go on the very narrow mountainside with steep slope. The two sides of the slope will be 2 abysses however this section has many large trees around it so that helps reduce the suspense.
On the mountainside, visitors can see the scenery of majestic mountains. Many people will feel very small compared to the surrounding nature. Visitors will continue to climb from an altitude of about 800m to a height of 1,800m without resting place for a large group of people. Therefore, the conqueror should bring lightweight items to reserve energy.
When the big slope is behind us and the height is about 1,800m, the terrain is flat and wider with big pine trees, rare pemou trees & vegetation. There is also a small stream and in the rainy season, visitors can use spring water for drinking water. It’s cold at night, so you have to use good-quality sleeping bags to sleep.
At the height of 1,800m, there are still a lot of big trees so it is difficult for tourists to see the peak even though it is near. To continue to the height of 1,900m, visitors must walk across the mountainside with large boulders, caves, rock niches, coniferous trees with bendy postures and countless species of forest orchids clinging to the trees. The magical scenery like getting lost in the fairy forest with the magic from the fog that makes you fascinated by the scenery here.
Getting closer to the 2 rocks, you’ll find an area with large boulders stacked like a castle or a rock maze. There is no path, so visitors have to go through the forest on their own, and keep going into large rock holes until they can clearly see Me islet and Con islet of Vong Phu.
In terms of size, 2 Vong Phu stones are equivalent to two high-rise buildings or more. The climate is quite cold, fluttering clouds will make visitors feel lost in the foreground. Two towering rocks and immense green forests will surely make many people wonder how to climb over the 2 rocks. The answer is that nature allows us to admire this uniqueness but not be able to rise above it, so simply look, feel and love it.
